My husband and I went into Taste super hungry last night. We ended up ordering over $40 worth of food and drinks. The sandwiches were a little bland, the roasted red pepper soup was delicious. The salad that we spent over $10 on (by adding a lot of extras) had almost no toppings, which was pretty sad, given that we had asked for 8 toppings. A giant, expensive bowl of lettuce. The real disappointment was the service. We were the ONLY people in the place for the half hour we were there, and it was 5pm, so it wasn't like they were closing. When we asked about things on the menu there were some "I'm not sure" answers, but no offer to find out. We asked about getting wine and the teenager behind the register said he'd have to have his manager get it for us...then didn't get the manager (we ended up asking three different people at various times to get a glass of wine). Our food, which we asked for eat-in, was boxed to go and took over 15 min to make, during which time we wondered why we couldn't at least get our soup. When it came out they forgot the pickles and chips. They also announced our names over the loudspeaker, and made us go all the way across the floor, then struggle back to our table with hands full of packages. I don't know if any of this would have been a big deal if we hadn't been sitting there watching FOUR employees laugh and gossip and just hang out behind the register most of the time. I've worked in food service. I know you hang out during slow times. But you still help the customers you have in front of you.

My wife and I discovered this place not to long ago when we firat moved to Vb and it blew our minds. The people are great, the food is amazing and the atmosphere is to die for. Rain or shine this place will my your heart happy! Now I just really wish there was one by my work off princess anne!!
(5)Chad G.
Sandwiches were great. Beer and wine selection was great, too. If you want a relaxing lunch with a wine or beer this is your place. And I ran into an old friend.
(5)Casey T.
Delicious food. We had the lynhaven and it was fantastic. The kids love their PBJ and the Brunswick stew was so yum. The brownie to top it off was perfection. I love the shop and the selection of local loves they sell. My kids want to make this a weekly must for us...and if it wasn't so far away we definitely would! Great experience.
(4)Dana B.
The best sandwiches at the beach.
(5)David B.
My Sissy is one of the managers here and the offerings are FRESH FRESH FRESH and it's one of the foodiest places to go in the VA Beach area... And they serve microbrews too!!!! Fresh Lobster salad anyone???
(5)Brandie M.
Friendly staff. Good food. And a nice picnic area for pups. :) I will definitely come back.
(5)Donna J.
Went here for dinner. I got a sandwich and water from the soda machine and was charged $2 for the cup ("because it came from the machine and we don't know what you really drank"). Had they given me a heads up on the price or just served me tap water, I'd have been happier. The food, though, was good. I got a vegetarian sandwich with portabella mushrooms, havarti cheese and other goodies. Yummy! My friend got a salad for $5 that was huge. Her nieces (adult age) really like the roast beef on country white bread and the caesar salad. We got small servings of gelato for dessert. They had plenty of to-go items, a daily special and had I seen the grocer's case with crab cakes, I probably would have that instead. Look at the case at the opposite end of the counter from where you order, BEFORE you order. They have PBJ and I saw several families with small children. They also have select grocery items and I bought some "made local" food items to take home! Highly recommend it! Several locations, but this is the one we visited.

Magically delicious... especially on a hot summer day after tanning on the beach!! Can't beat a half club... plenty for lunch!

Oh yeah, this place is right up my alley, Organic Food Loving Hippies... I've been to Taste twice now and its been insanely packed each time; like to the point of being able to get sexual w/the person beside you. I'm not a fan of crowds either, but this place is awesome. The food is so fresh and honest. Yeah, honest, lol... just made that up. But you know how you eat something bad for you, and even though its good, you feel like shit (sort of like a one night stand), eating here gives you life, lol. You don't want to go home and take your lazy ass to bed, or sit in the chair for another 20 mins because you overate, you want to continue about your day. This is what food should be, it should give you energy, not take away from it. So I've only had two things thus far, the crab cake, which was amazing! No detectable filler, great portion size, and reasonably priced. The only negative is how it had no remoulade sauce. While the crab cake itself was really moist, the overall sandwich was faintly dry because it was essentially, lettuce, crab, and bread. Very delicious though. I also had the Princess Anne, which is a vegetarian sandwich. Veggie prudes will love this one... I thought it was excellent, although, the roasted bell pepper can make your bread a bit soggy if you don't eat it right away. Wasn't too happy w/that. The next time I'll definitely omit those. All in all, I love this place... Definitely plan on being a regular. They also have a cute little Wine of The Month Gathering, and a ton of expensive merchandise that you're still going to want to buy, despite the price.

Love this place! I had been to this location about 2 summers ago and was dying to go back. It's awesome to see that they built a new 2 story building to accommodate everything. The staff were great and love that there were samples! If you want to try anything just ask and the staff will let you have a bite. My favorite is the chicken salad..soo delicious! Bright atmosphere, wish there was a location in Richmond, VA. Great for grabbing lunch to go for the beach. Can't wait to go back!!

I've always been a fan of Taste, their sandwiches are spectacular, their salads are awesome, and their Pimento Cheese exceeds every adjective I have in my vocabulary. The only pimento cheese I've had that was better was in Charleston, SC. So, I was eagerly awaiting the rebuild of this Taste location (the only one I've ever been to). Finally got a chance to go yesterday, and here are my thoughts: Initial impression: WOW! What a change, and room to sit inside - so I don't have to wait for a nice day to eat there. Awesome. The Good: Beer/Wine on tap, growlers available for beer, larger location, seating inside for dining, all the yummy sandwiches and salads they've always had, and I scored a Spanish Moscato to bring to our friends house for T-day for $5. The Not as Good (not really bad): I liked the marketplace of the old store better. It seemed like they had more stuff and a larger selection. I was shopping for some specialty items I wanted for Thanksgiving, and some of them I couldn't find. While I was waiting for my sandwich, I had plenty of time to peruse. They seemed a bit slower than the old location, but it only opened the day prior, and one of the staff even mentioned they were still getting used to the place. I'm sure they'll be back up to speed soon. For what it's worth, my wife told me that the marketplace/restaurant more closely mirrors their Norfolk location (which I had never been to), but I do miss the selection of the old building.
(4)Laura M.
Discovered this place when in town for work at Little Creek. The food was delicious, the service was great, and the atmosphere was very nice with outdoor seating. I was in town 3 days and went there for lunch twice. The sandwiches I ordered were large enough to share with my 16 year old daughter. I would love to have Taste Unlimited in Richmond!
(5)Travis R.
The world's best sandwiches. Though a bit pricey, they are well worth it. The new building now has indoor seating and plenty of room which makes it even better.
(5)Alicia W.
Everything I've had here is great. Well, I haven't actually eaten here BUT, they cater our work lunches a few times a month. I love all the wraps. Great for a party.
(4)Jenna D.
Normally, I would rave about Taste Unlimited. This location used to be my favorite, it had a nice farm stand feel and it was easy to avoid the crowds that deemed the location Taste and turned it from good food to something la de da. The new store had almost no parking, forcing people to park on the field and cross the street to get inside, and when I was inside, my sandwich order took about 30 minutes. I love the food, but the new atmosphere is about being seen, not getting good food. It might just be the rush because the location changed, but if it stays this way, I'm not going to come back.
(2)Kat J.
Between the mini-farmer's market outside, and the delicious deli/grocery inside, and then they cook for you too! In a word: Heaven.
(5)Alyson E.
This place is amazing!! I have never been disappointed with the service, the selection of items they sell (from selective beers and wines to selective chips and dips!), or the food they make. My all time favorite is their Grilled Chicken Salad Sandwich on their french baguette bread. Absolutely amazing. Their bread is always cooked perfectly. Also, I love when they have the farmers market outside because the produce is always fresh and delicious. I don't live in Virginia Beach anymore, but anytime I come home to visit family, it's always a place on my list to go to and check off before heading back to Hawaii.
(5)Christiana R.
The best sandwiches I've ever had hands down!! I was recently in VA visiting and went here more than once to get my fix! It's so delicious. All ingredients are fresh, all types of meats, and the sandwiches are unique and delicious combos! They also have a bunch of different wines, cheeses, dips, peanuts, and much more to taste while your waiting for them to make your sandwich. I wish they had these in California but I can't wait to be back in VA again so I can get TASTE!!!
(5)Yajaida P.
This is my favorite of the Taste locations when I have my pup. It has a great outdoor seating area in a very picturesque part of town. Really terrific if you want to grab a picnic basket and head to the beach. I will say though, the interior is very cramped. Compared to the Norfolk location it is also very limited in selection.
(4)Melissa R.
It's just ok. I think Gourmet Gang has better salads. They do not have a kids menu which I think is strange since there are always so many kids there. The cashier suggested I get my daughter a PB&J so that's what I did. You have to specify that you want it on regular bread or else they put it on french bread and it's impossible to eat. Their iced tea is really good but everything else about it is mediocre and it's kinda pricey.
(3)Anne F.
Great little sandwich shop with a unique beer selection! Unfortunately I was visiting on my lunch break today, but i will have to come back off the clock, because there were several that I wanted to try! Service was quick and friendly. Unfortunately there wasn't a market today (it is just above 40 degrees outside though). I will definitely come back when it warms up a bit! The selection of things in their gift shop was great though! They had some items that will make great small birthday gifts and stocking stuffers next season! Very glad I found this place!
(5)Jim B.
This place has fantastic Sandwiches on fresh bread and great deserts, cheeses, wine, and side dishes. no place to eat inside. Cool picknick tables outside. After 4 PM on weekends sandwiches made up in showcase are 1/2 price - great deal!!
(5)Bonnie H.
Thank heavens, fresh avocado, tomatoes, romaine lettuce! I can barely find anything to eat nowadays because everything is processed and fried. The price was perfect for me! Thank you!
(5)Jacquee B.
I have been to Taste many many times and finally took my friend there because I had mentioned it so many times in conversations. I always called it "The Joint on the corner....you know the one". I will address it by its proper name, Taste Unlimited, because it is just that. The sandwiches are so fresh as well as all of the deli items. I had the Tidewater (chicken salad, Virginia country ham, Swiss on French bread). So good. I took shrimp in cilantro & lime home as well as Virginia ham, pistachios, goat cheese and the chocolate dipped coconut macaroon got me at the counter (darn it! 15 extra minutes in treadmill....okay 20). We were going to take our food home and eat but once we took one bite we looked like two hungry people from Survivor scarfing our food down in the car. It was a dreary, rainy day so no eating outside at the picnic tables. It's always a pleasure and enjoyable when I go there. My friend and I went to the one on Hampton Blvd a few days later and they had just closed but let us in (we looked hungry). Asian Noodle Salad, cheese & baked cookies.......and yes, we ate that in the car too! Awesome place. Awesome service. Awesome food.
(5)Melinda W.
The food is great, I try to get something new every time. Brea-L-T is still my fav though. Pricey but good!
(4)Christian W.
Great upscale sandwiches. The long lines are worth the wait. Try the vegetarian sandwiches too, like the Princess Anne
(4)Marco A.
Went here twice in one weekend while visiting Virginia Beach. It's a good looking deli which doubles as a gourmet grocery/mini market. The highlight was Day 2 when I ordered the "Tidewater" (Classic chicken salad, Edwards' country ham, swiss, house dressing on french). I say this as sincerely as I can without any intended hyperbole, it was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. I never would have thought to combine chicken salad with country ham, I don't even particularly like ham but the combination was exquisite. The "country ham" was salty and was more akin to prosciutto or soppressata than traditional ham. Combining the chicken salad with house dressing made for a rich and delicious mixture. Eating the whole sandwich in one sitting is practically impossible. Even the bread was fresh, flavorful and hearty. If I had just had the Tidewater this would probably be a five star review but on Day 1 I had a mushroom barley soup and half roast beef sandwich combo that was pretty good but paled in comparison to the mighty Tidewater. It also took them 10 to 15 minutes to make our sandwiches when there was practically no one else in the store. They apologized for the wait but we were annoyed. In conclusion don't ever go to Virginia Beach or the greater Tidewater region without going to Taste and getting the epic "Tidewater", it was a remarkable sandwich. I'm already suffering withdrawal, I wish I could get this sandwich in DC
(4)Shar W.
Love the sandwiches here and also the specialty products they sell in the store.
(4)Peter B.
A great little place always good food, a little overpriced but very good. Service is friendly and fun.
(4)Carter J.
Food is good, not great. Service could improve too. Will try again, but don't think it's a must-try
(3)Meredith E.
I think Taste has been in Virginia Beach forever. The Shore Drive location is my favorite, because of the veggie stand and the outdoor picnic tables. Sandwiches are quality, but pricey, but the retail section is any foodie's dream. Good selection of wines, and be sure to sample the salads and deli meats.
(4)Dan H.
This family owned business has something that every gourmet sand which shop should take notes on. Standards and more standards!! I actually had the pleasure of working for this company on a short term basis before the birth of my baby girl. Having worked in the food industry before, I can honestly say, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that after managing the sand which line at this company I would still eat their food NO QUESTIONS ASKED!! Their adherence to standards is second to none. Great food! Great atmosphere! Great experience, all around!!
(5)Adam Taylor S.
Unique great lunch experience. Tons of creative sandwiches and salads. Novelty healthy quick lunch. Loved the sandwich of the day with Roast Beef. Amazing salads filled with fresh veggies and avocado. Friendly service willing to let you have a taste of everything. A fun store area to walk through after your meal with all different dips, sauces, cheeses and wine.
(5)Raven R.
I'm new to the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area. Only here for two weeks to complete my Navy training. Heard about this place a few times and had to give it a shot. LOVE THIS PLACE. The workers are so sweet and friendly and are absolutely the best. I made my own sandwich and it was delicious! Multigrain bread with portobello mushrooms, fresh mozzarella, cheddar cheese, avocado, mayo, and balsamic. It was AMAZING. I'm a vegetarian so I love it when restaurants think about my people and have a special veggie section in their menu. Thank you. You all are amazing and rock!!
(5)Aaron B.
This place is awesome. I'm not from VA, but I have occasion to visit about once per month. I always come eat here. For lack of a better description, it's a sandwich shop/Deli - think Whole Foods meets Subway. But that doesn't do it justice. They make everything on site - they roast the beef, they bake the bread (several varieties - I recommend the "Rustic Baguette" etc. They have daily specials & one they call "Peter's Pick" - which comes with small bag of chips & a drink for about $9. It has yet to disappoint. There's also a fairly wide variety of mostly locally sourced food items to take home - everything from craft beer to crab dip. They don't really need it, but they have a nice loyalty program. Every so often you get a free sandwich or dessert. Its always busy, but service is very fast and also very friendly. You can eat there (decent amount of seating inside/upstairs) and if it's nice, you can eat outside on picnic tables. They also feature local artist's work on the wall (available for purchase if you see something that suites you!). Really just a local jewel. Well done Taste! (oh yeah, they have a couple of other locations - check their website)
(5)AL K.
i love the design and the layout of the store but not so much the food. Its a barn style self service sandwich place, that also sells wine, beer, sauces, pasta etc . Its spacious with a 2nd level for dine in customers. Outside seating also available for those warm summer nights.
(3)Customer X.
Great, kid-friendly and relaxing place to try interesting products....The wine selection looked good. They have been offering gelato and farmers'products. It was free and easy to park.
(5)Chanel P.
Pretty good! I ordered the Bayview (I think that was the name), and loved the house sauce that comes on it. The crab seasoned chips were great as well. My daughter got to try the gelato, and loved it. And I liked all of the goodies that you could purchase off the floor. We ended up buying some bbq sauce and buttermilk buscuit mix as a thank you gift for the friends we are staying with while passing through Virginia.
(4)Chelsea S.
Awesome place on a nice day! Fresh food mainly sandwiches...also has market attached always has a great sample for anyone to try...my boyfriend could not stop trying all the delectably free snacks! Must try great place for family friends and dogs has corn hole outside while u wait!
(5)Liza C.
Even tho I only ate half my sangwich I'm feelin good about how my belly feels. Thanks Taste for keeping me thin. Way better than subway!!
(5)Chelsea R.
Can't say enough good things about it. Always fresh, friendly and great rewards. Love having a beer outside on a sunny day.
(5)Ali S.
Let me be clear: the concept is great and the few good experiences I've had here have been absolutely stellar. That's the reason I've returned in spite of so many lackluster, and even bad, experiences; however, I've reached a point of no return with Taste and I don't have the time or patience to deal with such inconsistency. Just today I had to send my sandwich back three times because it was incorrect. Each time I got a different sandwich back and each time it was still wrong. I finally accepted the wrong sandwich because after 20 minutes and three failed attempts I was just ready to leave. This experience absolutely blows my mind as the mechanics at work here are no more complicated than working at Subway: press buttons on register, read printed order, assemble pre-cooked/pre-sliced items on bread according to said order. This is not neuroscience so clearly the issue is either carelessness and/or incompetence and should be addressed by management because both are bad for business. Other issues I have encountered in the recent past are mostly related to quality of product rather than service. There have been several times when I received sandwiches with meat and/or produce that was grossly overcooked, underripe, overripe, and generally not fit for consumption for one reason or another... think black avocados (how this made it onto a sandwich after the employee saw it I'll never know) and chicken so tough I couldn't bite through it! I've also had to request a new bottle of dressing/aioli twice when every single one in the case was past its expiration date on the bottle. I tried really hard to dismiss each of the aforementioned offenses as isolated incidents; however, at this point it's clear that the bad outweighs the good at Taste Unlimited.
(2)Shiela E.
I absolutely love this place!! I can't wait to come back again.. and again!! The number 1 reason why I love this place is because it's dog-friendly! My boyfriend and I would love to take our dog to more places, but we haven't found many places we could take him! They have a decent size outdoor seating (shaded)! Also, dogs are allowed in the store! Another reason why we love this place is the food! Although it may be a little pricey (about $10 for a sandwich), it is very good. I ordered the Freemason and my boyfriend ordered the Pork belly sandwich, and we loved it both. We also got the soup of the day (tomato basil with orza) and that was really good as well. Along with sandwiches, they also have beer and wine! My boyfriend got the pineapple beer which was so good! We also got chips and a pickle! The last reason we absolutely love this place is the gelato! We got the salted caramel gelato, and it was to die for! I had to stop myself from buying more! There's also a small produce shop outside! Going to check that out next time! Safe to say we are definitely going to come back soon!
(5)Jihad B.
Had Taste Unlimited not forgotten to put bacon on my Lynnhaven I would have most certainly given them 5 stars considering how great the sandwich would have been and how delicious the others I tried were. However, they forgot bacon. The best part of any sandwich. I feel personally wronged.
(3)Linda K.
After a failed attempt at going to another place to have nachos (I was really craving some nachos!) we decided to take a shot at Taste because it happened to be in the direction that we were going. It doesn't look as if they have seating when you see the place from the outside, except the outside seating that is .. but they do. There are some tables at the second level loft (i would call it a loft , sounds about right to me). I was a little overwhelmed when we walked in because I had not expected a store, I thought this was a restaurant and not a restaurant/store combination. Nice surprise there. We looked over the menu and like I said, I was craving nachos, but the special here seemed to be sandwiches. *sad face*. I opted for the Ghent sandwich with chicken, basil mayo, and pickled red peppers. It was good, I'm not gonna lie, but it just wasn't what I wanted this particular day. My husband had a sandwich with all the meats he could find, he always does that. Seemed to like it. I was a little disappointed that they didn't have a lot of kids items, we tried potato salad with a no go. We tried Orzo salad with a no go. When it comes to food I guess my daughter wants it hot, and they didn't have anything hot on the menu. So instead we ordered a PB/J sandwich, which always goes down. The service was fast and the place had a nice feel to it. I wouldn't mind sitting there during the summer (outside of course) with a nice glass of wine which they sell by the glass. Overall, it is a nice place and they seem to have good stuff, next time I'll just bring some food for the daughter.
(3)Casey G.
Taste Unlimited has it all and can accommodate and please any palate. What I love about their new building is that there are so many items to check out in the store while you are waiting for your soup/sandwich/salad. Service is always quick and friendly, but weekends can get busy so plan accordingly.
(5)Xavier C.
This place is awesome. Although I will admit that I am slightly biased to places that are dog friendly. However, this place takes it to a whole new level. They even let dogs inside the building (within reason - your dog can't be crazy or bad). Just to be polite, we did eat at the outdoor patio as it was a nice day outside. However, during the winter we ate upstairs. The service here is fantastic. All the employees were eager to assist and help us with any questions or issues we had. With regards to the food - all the food is made with fresh ingredients. This is a nice touch as we like to "try" to eat better food if possible. To top that off they also now serve some local craft beers. They don't have a whole lot of them but still the choices they had were quite amiable - especially considering they were all local. The facility in the summer months has a cool outdoor corral that allows for a nice environment. The upstairs is always nice an convenient for those winter months with regards to seating and space. I really do like this place a lot as it has the "local" feel while being friendly and not snide to customers. I have yet to have a bad experience here and would HIGHLY recommend anyone who hasn't been here to stop by. It would make a great lunch date or even a good dinner date for the more comfortable couples. Food taste - 5 Overall Service - 5 Value of food to cost - 4 Facility - 5 Repeat customer? - yes
(5)Emily F.
Such a cool concept. You can buy some speciality snack foods and beers and wines and sample food like a market. Then you can order food at the counter and look around while you wait for it. Tables upstairs and picnic tables outside where you can sit and enjoy.
(4)Amanda K.
The tidewater and northender are great sandwiches. This place also had really good cookies and more epicurean snacks. Downside is it is crowded all the time - call ahead for takeout.
(4)Mike M.
You cannot go wrong with Taste Unlimited. I feel fortunate they are right down the street from my house. If you haven't been by the Shore Dr. location you need to drop in to see what an amazing job they did with their rebuild. In addition to great sandwiches they have local brews on tap so you can fill up your growler at 10 am (most of the breweries don't open until noon or later). Because I should be drinking more beer before noon. I also never leave without scooping a few handfuls of the old bay peanuts.
(5)Amy B.
Definitely a five star experience. We're passing through Virginia on our way to the Outer Banks and found this via Yelp. From the design & aesthetics of the restaurant, menu, etc, to the range of sandwich options available to the amazing good quality of the ingredients and this place was a huge hit! The ordering process is incredibly streamlined and there's never a long wait to order. Plus the gelato is to die for! Don't miss your opportunity to have lunch here.
(5)Jeffrey P.
I'm not very fond about buying sandwiches from places like this so you rarely see me here. My friends wanted to go here for dinner one day so I decided ok, let me try this place again, for the third time. I ordered the Great Neck sandwich this time and it was ok. Nothing to get excited over, nothing to be like, OH MY GOSH I have to get another one attitude. It's just a sandwich. My sandwich had honey smoked turkey and roast beef. The meats tasted the same, like the ones you get from a grocery store and you pay about $9 to eat it here. The hot house dressing was original and it was actually good. I wonder if I could buy that sauce to take home so I could make this same exact sandwich at home? hmmm? Well anyway, enough about the food. This particular location does have outdoor seating and on the day we went a band was playing. It was a nice Friday night and everyone was enjoying themselves. I give TASTE a good rating on that. It was a very relaxing and fun night. The service was quick!!! I got my buzzer and I went to the soda fountain to fill my drink. Before I even put ice in the cup, I was buzzing!! Cool points for being quick!! That is all I have to say for now. For me, I would not choose this place on my own to eat for lunch or dinner. You'll see me here only if the people I'm with wants to eat here. I'm still thinking why other people rave about this place. I don't hear a lot of people rave about Panera. hmmm
(3)Kelli J.
I must admit...I've had Taste Unlimited food (catered) before, but I've never visited any of the locations. OK...so I kinda like fell in love! The staff are friendly and professional! There is something about an establishment that prepares healthy fresh food and has a wide selection of healthy snacks and drinks (and wine). I'm not overly impressed that they allow dogs inside (maybe because I don't own a dog and I'm not comfortable being around all dogs), but I love the nice friendly atmosphere!
(4)Stephanie W.
Taste Unlimited has been around for as long as I can remember. It's a staple in Virginia Beach. This location, which opened a while back, is convenient to the Chix Beach area and loaded with everything you could need to pack some snacks, food, and drinks (alcoholic/non-alcoholic). They even have a small farmers stand out front with fresh fruits and vegetables for purchase. The building looks like a big barn and when you go inside the openness is airy and welcoming. However, it is a little loud when there are a lot of people there. My favorite sandwich is the Northender - turkey, bacon, havarti, avocado, romaine, tomatoes, and basil mayo on french bread! A MUST, I swear! It's so damn good. The prices are little high but I really think you get what you are paying for because the quality of the food they use is amazing! They have so many other sandwiches to choose from, but I always get the Northender. Maybe one day I'll try something else, but for now I will stick to what I know is perfection!
(4)Meghan B.
Stopped in to have a quick bite on the way home from OBX. I'm so glad we did! Great shopping, crafted sandwiches and so much more. Worth stopping every time!
(5)Lorraine P.
Great quick healthy options for lunch. The soup and sandwiches are fresh. The clean and relaxing environment is also welcoming. And I love that their business model includes giving back to the community.
(5)Sarah G.
I had a beach club for lunch. It was delicious and they were busy so the wait seemed ok. About 15 min I would guess. I ordered a salad before I left. They weren't busy. It took way too long for them to make the salad!! The salad was ok. I just don't understand why it took so long for them to make the salad when they appeared to have plenty of staff. For the price, they really need to work on speed of service.
(3)Jessica H.
Taste is great!! I love their gluten free selections. You can basically get any of their sandwiches and ask for gluten free bread. The new store is great! They get rather packed though and they take much longer to make the gluten free stuff. My coworkers got regular food and it took me an extra 10 minutes to get mine :/ I definitely come back regularly when I want some gluten free sandwiches!

I had the Northerender Sandwich with extra house instead of the basil mayo. Let me just say it was amazing! If you are a meat lover this store definitely packs on fresh meat! Not your average delicatessen meat! Hidden away in a red barn this location is absolutely adorable! The store has merchandise for purchase in the front of the store. I enjoyed looking through the various items while waiting on my sandwich. Although the shop was busy my sandwich was prepared in no time! Thoroughly pleased with the customer service.

Can I tell you my new love in Virginia Beach. I just discovered this heavenly place and will start to beg these folks to move to Richmond (if they will even consider a satellite location). For someone with food allergies, I cannot tell you how happy I was to be told about this little slice of heaven. With so many food options on their menu alone, I was happy to find someone I could go and eat without having to worry about finding something on the menu that I COULD EAT. With a variety of sammies, soups and other snacks to munch on, this place is a great stop for anyone looking for healthier alternatives as well. What surprised me the most about this place was not the stellar services (literally everyone was happy and willing to help- these folks really love their jobs), and it wasn't the customer card (that i totally signed up for), it was the selection! This store is like a mini grocery store - with all the varities of local fare, you are bound to find something wonderful. Like to give food as gifts, then this is your stop too! With so many items to choose from, you can even make a basket to go for a newly engaged couple (or a picnic for two - like i did). With the vast selection of wine and other liquid refreshments, you can quench your thirsty with anything appeasing to the palete. If that didn't sell you, then maybe their patio will! After you buy one of their decant sandwhiches (i personally enjoyed the virginian), step outside under an umbrella or awning to enjoy your treats. And, if you are looking for fresh produce, they are set up right besides a farm that you can come pick up some locally grown goods (like so mnay folks who brought their own baskets did).

Gone is the tiny roadside stop that has adorned the corner of Shore Dr. and First Court for decades. It has served the Chicks Beach area well, but loyal Taste customers had screamed out for a more updated location for years. Don't get me wrong the old location was a charmer. However, Peter and his crew of faithful had grand plans to make this all new Taste a masterpiece... in my opinion they accomplished just that. The planning for the new location began years ago. A dream became reality on Tuesday November 26th with a soft opening. Some minor kinks need worked out by the Grand Opening and I have no doubt they will. The one thing they cannot run away from and management knows it. Parking will be a challenge as they only have 35 spaces. On most days I envision this not being a problem, but on busy weekends it will be problematic. Also a new policy that parking is no longer allowed across the street in the grass with this property recently changing hands. The all new Shore Taste is a charmer, they not only pulled it off they exceeded their local followings expectations. First the construction was complete in less than 90 days... that is warp speed for a project of this magnitude. They even moved up the soft opening a few days. Some minor work on the exterior was taking place yesterday, but the interior was finished. Bayville Taste is built to resemble a barn themed out with a dairy farm feel... complete with a medal roof, open interior rafters, large plank wood floors and an elevated loft for dining. Inside the new bistro is a stunner and unlike any other Taste in the Tidewater chain. For those not aware the entire 400+ acres of Bayville Park, Bayville Golf Course and Church Point neighborhood was a working dairy farm up from 1919 to the late 60's. That is a little difficult to grasp considering the sprawling development of 30+ years. You will find a huge "Bayvile Farms" sign on the wall paying tribute to the heritage of this property. Other displays paying tribute are paintings on the wall and even milk jugs utilized for their outdoor seating. On my visit I was greeted by Barbara who is a floater type of employee who welcomes customers and assist on the floor. I found her very helpful and pleasant to converse with. You could really get a sense that she is a natural for this position. I was already familiar with the Taste menu and moved to the counter for my order. They had plenty of staff on hand at the ready to assist. If you are a regular you will find the same great employees on hand which made me feel right at home. A nice young man got me going on a signature sandwich the "Northender" which is a honey smoked turkey, applewood smoked bacon, havarti, avocado, romaine, tomato, basil with mayo on French bread... whew! Also a new addition is they serve local Smarthmouth on tap, but had yet to get their ABC license on my visit. While I waited for my order I moved over to the fountain machine and found an issue with it making ice. Workers were around working on it at the time. After finding a table I got up to look around at the retail area. If you are already a loyal Taste customer then there is no surprise at the gourmet inventory they carry. However it is drastically expanded now. All the great cookies, snacks, chocolates, nuts, chips sauces and on and on and on of specialty items you cannot find in a typical grocery are here. The wine selection was a disappointment, but I am sure will be shored up soon. I noticed a nice addition of a specialty stand up ice-cream case. I don't recall this at others locations and may be a unique offering for this store only. My sandwich was up in around 10 minutes and tasted great. Barbra came over to check on me as well as long time manager on Shore Sandy who was running around like a chicken with her head cut off at the hundreds of details that needed to be addressed. But she had time for me and the fact customers come first is a tradition that has not changed with the building of a new store. You will still find plenty of out door picnic style seating which is a hallmark of this location since they previously had no interior seating before. You will still get that roadside feel albeit the tables are not as close to the road. Also a small four to five table area is located just to the side with a pass through from the interior kitchen. This area was not open yet. Also not open is another long time taste trademark and locals fave... their fresh produce stand. This will be located just to the right of the entrance and will be very cool. Large vertical doors will open that are hinged at the top to display their wonderful locally grown fruits and veggies. The evolution from the cramp roadside stop to the gorgeous and spacious new structure is nothing short of spectacular, a real masterpiece. A dream has been realized not only by our friends at locally owned and operated Taste, but also your loyal fans in Chicks Beach and Bayside.

A very unique place to get good food! Their selection of wine, beer, and speciality drinks was pretty awesome. The inside was very clean and nicely decorated. I ordered the crab sandwich while my husband got the pork one. We just got the sandwiches and a drink, which totaled our bill to almost $30. I was shocked and disappointed when I saw how small the sandwiches were. I mean, I understand that they are not your normal turkey, cheese, and mayo sandwiches, but geez. I was just expecting a little more. I could have even gotten some fries or chips and been a little bit happier with the portion size. The food was delicious though. Just be prepared that you may need to run to McDonalds afterwards to fill yourself up
(3)Kacey F.
This is my absolute favorite place in town for lunch. The sandwiches are amazing (I get the inlet with extra balsamic). My husband loves the salads. It IS a little pricey and the wait can sometimes be ridiculous. But take my word for it, it's worth it. This place is THE BEST.
(5)Melissa C.
Stopped here on our way back to PA after a little weekend VB getaway. Loved the store and everything that was being sold here. Super good and quality items being sold. I got the northender and man was this sandwich super good. I substituted out the basil mayo for red pepper aioli which I personally think put this sandwich over the top. The bread was fresh. Overall, really nice spot to grab a bite to eat.
(5)A K.
Love the large shop after the renovation. Away from hustle if Laskin road and oceanfront. Taste is still the best sandwich shop around.
(4)M L.
Good sandwiches. True everything is made on site & I love the gluten free option but, sandwiches were good not great. Althoigh we loved the Crab Cake sandwich but kind of small. Tip: the gluten free option came on a larger slices of bread. Great gelato: pistachio is my so far favor. Very good efforts in the coffee with expresso, & the raspberry sorbet as well. Kind of pricey & the wait can be daunting. Indoor seating available upstairs.
(3)Colin Q.
Has gone down hill since expanding. Ordered a sandwich today and they have me one that looks like it was made hours ago, bread soggy smashed, didn't have time to complain but this is what they do. If I'm paying $12 for a sandwich the least you could do is make it fresh!
(2)Kyle C.
Great place! Lots of Healthy options and local/small business things which I found really cool! They have an amazing outside sitting area with games and lots of tables, I could see this place being awesome for a lunch with a couple of friends. the sandwiches were on fresh bread and you can tell how fresh all of the ingredients actually were! The gelato was GREAT! Lots of options but all were very tasty. The place was a little pricey but worth it in my opinion.
(5)Christie S.
Been here twice while in VB and, oh yum. They have gluten free bread that is tasty and soft. And free samples! I had the Lafyette... Possibly both times and it was so good. Brie chicken some kinda delicious sauce. It's a bit pricy ... $11 for a full sandwich and chips. Worth it though.
(5)Andy G.
It's bougie but the food is good. The new place is an upgrade from the little storage shed in which they used to operate. I took off two stars because the hours were a little odd and it's a little confusing on ordering food. (You pay once you get your food)
(3)D.J. H.
nothing special at all. fresh ingredients are the plus, but that's it. the long lines and crowded storefront almost make it not worth it. the ONE drink fountain is also a con since you will be in line even longer to get a drink. every time i've went the cashier was rude or pushy. and the parking....forget about it. youre better off parking in the open field down the road and walking to taste. better get it to go since the empty lot is somehow controlled. they often threaten to tow cars there. I don't plan on going back anytime soon................
(2)Rick M.
Located on Shore Drive, this is a long time institution in Bayville. Unfortunately, they have over "improved". The parking situation was awful for awhile, but with a new area for parking, it's not bad. You would think with a bigger venue and more staff the service would be better than the days of the building that was no bigger than a "double wife, BUT you'd be wrong. The service is slow and awful. For dog lovers, the picnic area is very dog friendly and are welcomed visitors. Honestly, I don't know that they have any better selection than they did in the old building. It's OK, but no longer anything special
(3)Blue B.
Great sandwiches. The Greek salad was fantastic. The mozzarella and prosciutto sandwich was good. We sat outside with our dog on a sunny afternoon. E will be back.
(4)Marisa S.
Normally, I would give a place like this 5 stars! It is local, it has a little grocery section, and they have cheeses, wines, and more to purchase. I like the location on Shore Dr. They just rebuilt it and the new building is very nice! I always enjoy their yummy deli sandwiches and homemade soup. But, I feel like it is a little to pricey and it is always busy. Last time we went, we had to wait for a table. The people working the registers were busy and not very friendly. That is why I did not give it 5 stars. Otherwise, the food and the store portion is great!!!
(4)Jennifer S.
Today was our first time visiting Taste, off a recommendation from a local business and Yelp as well. I ordered the "Northender" and hubby ordered the "Lynnhaven" as well as one of their microbrews (a hef I believe). I also tried the blackberry & ricotta gelato for dessert. The staff was super friendly, and the wait was not too long for our food. There is no displayed menu, just the specials and baskets of menus everywhere. My sandwich was good, though the meat should be spread out more throughout the sandwich not just rolled and directly in the middle, the avocado was also non-existent. The French bread was lovely. Hubby liked his sandwich, but "it was very cheddary" (yes I know that isn't a word). The atmosphere was nice, though the staff needs to clean the upstairs tables a bit more. The blackberry ricotta gelato was tasty, but needed more blackberry flavor, by the fourth or fifth bite all I could taste was the ricotta. But it was super creamy, and a small will do ya fine!! I think we will definitely give this place a go another time!
(3)Alan Y.
Taste has some awesome specialty foods, with tons of samples for their customers. The employees are wonderful, atmosphere relaxing, and ingredients fresh. For lunch, I had the shrimp BLT on whole wheat wrap -- it was certainly high-quality and tasty. However, the $12 price point was really rather high for a wrap with a total of maybe six small shrimp on it. For someone visiting the VA beach area, maybe just grab some of their unique dips or nuts.
(3)Felix W. C.
The food is real fresh with a lot of flavor. (Organic). They have a amazing store with a good quality wine and snack. Also farmer store.
(4)Tammy H.
I Love Taste! I make a visit here at least once every couple weeks. I have heard several people complain that they are too expensive, but I don't mind paying $8 for a good sandwich! This location can get pretty busy, however I just grab a beer and sit outside with my pup while a wait.
(5)Traci W.
There's plenty to appreciate about Taste. The food is delicious and there's a respectable variety of sandwiches and salads. The sandwich breads have a nice, crunchy crust and a soft, flavorful middle. The ingredients are fresh and high quality. Their desserts are decadent and yummy. Their selection of gourmet sauces, dips, and crackers - many of them locally made- are fantastic. I'm more into food than wine, but their wine selection seems impressive. But the experience of getting the food -specifically on weekends or during lunchtime - can be very frustrating and stress inducing. The parking lot is too small to handle the volume of customers, and generally there are 1-2 cars competing for spaces at any given time. Patience is a necessity. Then, upon entering the restaurant, the best way to describe it --- a zoo. The experience is extraordinarily confusing because there are multiple registers to order. But you don't pay at that time. You're sent off to wander the store amongst the mob of other confused patrons. There's no real waiting area, so everyone is wandering the aisles crashing into each other. (Literally) Then, when your buzzer goes off, you walk up to the group of registers and hope you don't cut in front of someone / someone cuts in front of you, because there's no established line. After today's experience, I realized I could either (1) take the buzzer outside and wait or (2) call my order in ahead of time - both would eliminate half the stress. I still don't know what to do about the lack of a line at the registers to pay. If you have an extraordinary amount of patience, or you don't mind running the gauntlet for good food, you'll likely enjoy your experience.
(3)Erin S.
You have to stop by Taste when you are in VA Beach or the Tidewater area!! They have the best sandwiches, sauces and bread! I ordered the Lafayette. The basil mayonnaise made this sandwich!! We even bought a bottle of their Hot House Dressing! YUMM!
(5)Kevin S.
LOVED, LOVED, LOVED Taste Unlimited. We went down to VA Beach for Memorial Day weekend to visit with some friends, and they suggested we meet at Taste Unlimited for lunch. It's our friends' favorite place to eat, and I can see why. LOVE the fresh ingredients and awesome sandwiches and salads. Prompt, professional, friendly service. Wickedly sinful desserts. It was so good, we went back for lunch the next day, too. I wish there was a Taste Unlimited near our house - I'd eat there every day if I could.

Stopped by for a quick bite before hitting the road back to DC. The place is great with a small market outside selling locally grown produce. The inside is huge with a wide selection of freshly baked goods, gelato, salsas, sauces and drinks. I chose to put my own sandwich together which was delicious except for the gluten free bread. It was falling apart and tastes very stale. My husband chose the Freemason with no bacon which was good but a bit bland. I tried the organic invigorating black tea which was really yummy (peach flavored). We shared a freshly baked massive chocolate chip cookie. It was just right and not greasy like a lot of other ones you get.
(5)John K.
Would be 5 if i could park LOL! There is nothing bad on the menu walk around and try the samples great fresh cut meats, in reality they lost a point for the ice tea not a big fan of commercial teas flavor is not right and it is cheap to make a batch of lipton with sugar. The wine selection is a little pricey but the food is damn good!
(4)Lady L.
OMG!! Just go.. the desserts alone will be the hi-light to your day. The new building is beautiful and so cool. Such a great date place.. wine by the glass, gelato,.. feels very NYC meets southern hospitality.
(4)Heather D.
I love this place! I got the Lafayette sandwich for lunch with the cream of mushroom soup and it was so good. I love that they have wine on taps and their little store that you can walk around into get local goods is awesome. The atmosphere is great and the service was too, I will definitely be coming here again!
(5)Mafalda L.
I was a fan even before they updated it, but now... I like it even more! Such a good feeling walking through those glass doors and seeing the fresh drinks, healthy sandwiches and yummyyyy gelato. Outdoor space feels like you are having a fun picnic with your family and friends. More parking spaces too.
(5)Christopher C.
Fresh fresh fresh. I came here on my way to Va beach and boy was I glad I did. Everything in this place is fresh. I had the Tidewater sandwich, which is their classic chicken salad with virginia country ham, swiss cheese and house dressing on fresh french bread. It was delectful, everything tasted so fresh and homemade. The staff was very friendly and the place was clean. I also picked up a 4pk of terrapin pumpkinfest beer!! Love this place
(5)Ellen Y.
Love Taste! Best lunch in VB. I've had several sandwiches and none disappoint. Also love the cookies n cream gelato. Atmosphere is great and service is always perfect. My mom had a sandwich that one half had cheese, but the other didn't. So she took it to the counter and they just gave her a whole new sandwich. I also love the farm stand outside. Great place that we always love going to.
(5)Pat B.
My first time to Taste Unlimited. I really enjoyed the experience. The cleanness of the market and the upstairs eating area was appreciated. I ordered the small cobb salad with a 1/2 club sandwich. My friend ordered the 1/2 boardwalk sandwich. Both the sandwiches were on the small side but they were delicious. I saved my sandwich for later and enjoyed my salad there. The salad was worth the price, fresh and delicious. They have a few tables inside on the market floor but they seem to be in the line of foot traffic and we decided to go upstairs. Lovely space and it was so cool on a hot day. But once upstairs I needed a bit more salad dressing. I walk with a cane, and not wanting to bother my friend, I did without, it would of been nice if the associate working on the market floor would of checked on us. I will definitely go back. I purchased a few of the market items and loved every one of them. The prices are somewhat high, but the food is delicious, help at the counter is fast and friendly and the small farmers outside is a nice surprise. I loved the zinnias they had for sale the day I visited.
(4)Christine P.
my favorite sandwich place!! The Lynnhaven is amazing and what I get every time!! Chicken, spinach, housemade pimento cheese! YUMMY! They also have free wi-fi so I can eat lunch and get some work done :)
(5)Mister C.
Wide variety of high quality sandwiches and sides. Plus local beer on draft! The only reason Taste does not get 5 stars is that they could have paid more attention to better organizing the parking lot and lines to order and pay, a perfect opportunity being the complete reconstruction of the property done to enlarge the building last year. This place is popular, so expect a crowd.
(4)Brenda L.
I was visiting one of my college girlfriends who lives in Chesapeake this past weekend and she told me how amazing this place is. When she told me the name I was a bit unimpressed. We decided to pick up a signature lunch box before we made the trek to the beach and I am SO glad we did. I had the Commonwealth sandwich with the Rt 66 Dill Pickle chips, and the lemon bar. The sandwich was one of the BEST sandwiches I have had in YEARS. The lemon bar was equally delicious, but next time I'll opt to have the Key Lime Bar which I had a little taste of. I love this place and it's definitely on my list of places I have to stop by whenever I'm in the VA Beach area.
(4)Kenzie B.
I love Taste, I've never gotten a sandwich that I haven't liked! The staff is always friendly and helpful and the food is always fresh and delicious! I love the feel you get when you walk into Taste, it's like a specialty sandwich shop but without the feeling of being judged or looked down upon, instead you always get a friendly face no matter if you're a regular or new, they make you feel welcomed. I've had multiple sandwiches but I have to say The Gent is my favorite! Taste is a definite must try for anyone who hasn't! The gelato is delicious also!!!
(5)A J.
A little more pleasant today and plus, I couldn't resist the greek salad they offer here...the best hands down!!!
(4)Veronica H.
Good food. Friendly service. A little pricey, but worth it! My friends and I stopped here after hiking 7 miles at First Landing State Park! We were grateful for the outdoor seating (which is the only seating they have)! It was October so they had pumpkins for sale in front of the store. The food was good and I really enjoyed my cookie! Downsides: No indoor bathroom (port-o-potty) and only bottled drinks, with no recycling. Seating is right next to the highway, but it wasn't that bad.
(4)Lauren C.
This place is soooo good. I see why it is a Virginia Beach institution. My sister lives in VB and introduced me to Taste and now it's my favorite place to stop by whenever I visit. My favorites on the menu are The Hilltop (turkey and cheese with Russian dressing on their AMAZING white bread) and the Blackened Tuna Salad. The staff here is always very prompt and pleasant, even though every Taste location I have ever been to is usually packed with people. And I love browsing around their grocery section to see what what they have to offer. Love to find local/VA items on their shelves. On my last visit, I was pleasantly surprised to find Richmond's own KimKim sauce! I know there are several Taste locations around Hampton Roads, but maybe we will be lucky enough to get a Taste in Richmond one day? Dare to dream!
(5)Sandy S.
Taste is a great go to spot for Sandwiches and salads on the go. Their food is fresh and delicious. Their unique cheese spreads and local wine selection make for great add on's for any occasion. They have a small market filled w/ locally made specialty items as well. They are pretty pricy but you get what you pay for. The staff is always friendly and efficient. It is always packed each and every time i go in so be prepared to wait for the goods. Aaand you know what they say: when looking for a great place to eat...go where the people are! they seem to always be at Taste on shore drive.
(4)Paul F.
waiting 20 minutes for a sandwich and salad is a bit much - great good but unless u have nothing else to do but wait - I'd recommend another restaurant on Shore drive
(1)Wanda G.
I stumbled upon this gem totally by accident on my way to the airport!!! Great find! It's a cute little place with a big tree and picnic tables out front to eat on. The sandwiches are gourmet and there were so many I wanted to try! I ended up getting a shaved ham, cheese, and peach chutney sandwich on a croissant! OMG YUM! Too bad I live 3000 miles away or else I'd be a regular. Check it out!
(5)Megan P.
This place is way over priced for below average sandwiches being from ny I expect to pay alot but this place is way over priced for what it is The bread was dry and tasteless they didn't put any dressing on my sandwich Which was so dry I couldn't even eat it Then the so called mozzarella they put on it was a weird consistency Overall a huge disappointment but thank god I was only visiting bc If that was the best place to get a sandwich I would cry waste of money
(1)Caroline S.
I called to place a to go order and the lady was so rude on the phone. She actually hung up on me. So I sent my husband in to just order there and they were rude to him as well. We ordered 2 salads, items were left off the salads that were on the menu. It was so expensive! Very disappointed.
(2)Troy R.
I find nothing wrong with it! Substituted wrap/bread with lettuce wrap, amazingly delicious! Everything, service included was great!
(5)Shannon D.
I love this little shop. It had everything I needed in it one fine day. Great selection of wines, peanuts, crackers, cheese, jams and hard to find dips. They also have a wonderful deli that will make you a fresh sandwich while you are shopping. They will also put together a lovely gift basket for you of all the goodies you find. These need to make there way to the West Coast!!!!
(5)Leona B.
Taste Unlimited has earned its reputation as THE local grab and go gourmet shop. Their made-to-order sandwiches, prepared food and signature boxed lunches are an area staple. I used to love it when I went to work events they catered. The famous tangy house dressing, which goes on to several of their sandwiches, is the bomb. Their selection of specialty food is maybe not what it once was, but they still carry a very well chosen list of wines. The Shore Drive location is perfectly situated to stop in on your way to and from Chick's Beach or the Oceanfront. Pick up a pre-made wrapped sandwich and a pint of tortellini pasta salad, throw it in the cooler and go. There is a small Farmers' Market attached to the side of the building which operates in the warmer months, a nice complement to the store. They paved the parking lot recently which was a godsend. It used to be a precariously potholed experience. One thing is, considering the size of the piece of property there, it would be nice if they expanded the building to include a small indoor seating area and a little less cramped quarters in general. Right now there's a huge area out front with picnic tables that seems to be disproportionate to the size of the building itself.
(4)Melinda C.
There are definitely some great things about Taste. Their retail is awesome. The location on Shore Dr. has a sweet little vegetable stand attached to it where a few local farmers sell their delicious produce. The concepts behind the sandwiches are very good. However, I am always disappointed by Taste's sandwiches. This is principally because they DRENCH everything in sauce. By the time the sandwich is wrapped and handed to me over the counter, the bread is soaked and sauce is leaking everywhere. When I ask for light sauce, the sandwich is exactly as soaked as when I do not ask. Perhaps I should try asking for the sauce on the side, but I have a feeling that would just result in double the sauce. The food is not worth the wait, in short. If you're passing through and nobody's in line, give it a shot. If there are twenty people in there (every time I have been there), go somewhere else.
(2)Chel R.
Excellent gourmet sandwiches, wraps, wine, cheese and goodies. Everything is spectacular. I love the mozzarella bistro sandwich, which has fresh mozzarella, tomato, basil, balsamic and mayo on ciabatta bread. Heavenly. Any dessert bar or brownie is to die for. They also have specialty sodas, chips and candies. You will definitely pay more for this privilege though. Lunch for two including a sandwich, drink and a cookie or chips will cost about $30. But it's a worthwhile splurge. There are Taste Unlimited shops spread out across Hampton Roads. All of them are wonderful. But what stands out about this location is there is a large outside picnic area as well as a seasonal produce stand. Also, this location is across the street from Bayville Farms Park. You can take your order over to the tables there and have a splendid picnic.
(5)Katie B.
LOVE IT! I copy my boyfriend...I get blackened tuna on wheat..with avocado and basil may. Holy craPOLI! It's delicious! Another fav is the Mozzarella bistro. SO GOOD! They have specialty beers and soda's and all kinds of other neat stuff to look at while you wait (cause you WILL wait). TIP: If what you want to order happens to be in the 'pre-made' fridge...order something else or request they make it fresh.....it's always cold and the bread is hard and it just doesn't taste as good. Overall...GREAT place..especially on a nice day when you can sit outside!
(4)Cheryl E.
Best sandwiches in Hampton Roads, hands down! The mozzarella bistro and North are amazing! They also have a great wine selection.
(5)jen b.
Great sandwiches for sure. The house dressing rocks my world, especially with turkey and havarti on French. You can get other gourmet food and wine here, and they have some very cute decorative/kitchen items. This location on Shore Dr. is tiny and awkward to move around in and when it's crowded, it's a zoo. There is not a good place to wait for your sandwich. Despite the negatives, their food is fab!
(4)Andrew R.
My aunt lives very close to this place, so we usually grab some lunch here when we visit her. The sandwiches are definitely good, but honestly, the only reason we keep going back is that it's close to my aunt's house. We're unfamiliar with the other places nearby, and we don't visit Virginia Beach often enough to learn or remember new places, so it's usually easier and faster to just go here rather than get lost looking for something new. I'm not sure why others think this place is so wonderful. As I said, the sandwiches taste good, the ingredients are fresh, and the sizes are usually adequate, but they're nothing amazing. I agree with Marina M. that it's mostly marketing and everything is definitely overpriced. If the company can convince people to love their products and think the price is worth it, than more power to them, but if you're considering trying it for the first time, I would recommend caution to make your own conclusions. They're doing many good things as far as their offerings, but their marketing is shallow and their attention to customer experience poor when compared to what they could do. I also agree with Jan B; This particular store on Shore Drive is extremely inefficient and awkward. They could fix so much of the poor customer experience by rearranging this store to streamline the ordering, shopping, and waiting process. I always take a few deep breaths to calm myself before entering this store. Bottom line: if you're passing through it's worth a try, but don't make a special trip. If it weren't so close to my aunts house we probably wouldn't go back because the cost doesn't justify the finished product and experience. If they made some changes they could increase the perceived value so it doesn't seem overpriced.
(2)Lisa D.
Expensive for basically take out, not as good as it was in the past either.
(2)John G.
Great sandwiches, cold drink selection and candies too. Don't forget the wine! Taste has been serving up good food for ages. Don't overlook the refrigerated foods. They make great crab cakes. Located close to Bayville Farms park, so if you don't want it eat on one of the benches outside, you can take your food to a quiet spot in the park.
(5)Chelsea C.
Taste Unlimited House Dressing is my weakness! Thank goodness they sell it so I can take it home and make my own yummy subs with it! This place has large portions, high prices and usually a pretty big wait but to me its worth it every once in a while for the great sandwiches they deliver! Try any combo of meat with french bread and House! Also Taste gift cards make great gifts!
(4)Mick D.
The food is good but... The service and the level of effort from the staff just sucks. Today I called 25 minutes ahead to order two sandwiches. Yeah it's slow and crowded at lunch hour, that's why I called ahead. I show up and ask for my order ... and they start to make the sandwiches THEN. The moron blonde lady at the register looks at me like "Hey what's the hurry?" Dumb, bad service. When you order ahead make sure you ask nicely that they have it ready when you arrive.

we stopped here off yelp reccommendations. really glad we did. super good sandwiches with lots of vegetarian options. they also have a little veggie/fruit stand and a gourmet store inside with lots of chocolates, cookies, and tasty drinks. the sandwiches are grab and go and you eat outside at little picnic area which includes adirondack chairs. the only negatives - no seating inside and while we were eating this truck came and EMPTIED the port a potty outside into a tank on the back of the truck (Gross) and the smell was off putting. for 2 sandwiches, 2 drinks and a lime bar was 21 bucks. staff was nice.

it's ok, i know sounds so down after the other two RAVE reviews, but i think it's up marketed more than anything, i've had much better sandwiches in many other places, and the atmosphere is ok, no covered outside eating spots, so only good for eating there (in the picnic area) in nice weather in the summer. and honestly sooo overpriced for a little sandwich which is ok... maybe i'm just not so well-to-do, as most in the neighbourhood, and that makes me count the dollars more than most? i don't know. but there's probably some nice/interesting candies and things they sell in the shop worth getting as a gift or something, but still overpriced and rather seems like the kind of place you 'want people to see you buy at' than one actually enjoys going to. :-) the va beach type yuppy hangout. :-) no disrespect intended.

I travel to VB a lot for work and I literally plan the trip around Taste Unlimited visits. I make sure I arrive in time to get a sandwich the first night, and leave late enough to get a sandwich for the plane. Everything I've tasted has been spectacular, and the selection is incredible. The snacks, baked goods, and wine are top quality and make me invision a life of picnicking in Sandbridge with all the cute picnic and cocktail accessories. It's a little pricey, but totally worth it.

YUM!! They have the BEST turkey/cheese sandwiches ever! Also, the best chicken salad sandwiches! AMAZING. Never tried the fresh fruit / veggies - but I heard they're great! There's one on Shore Drive you can get some lunch and eat at the beach...
